My Wayward Eyes

Several years ago, I was diagnosed with AMD. Then, my doctor died suddenly, and it's hard to find a new one in a rural setting. I had developed a wandering right eye, and now have double vision, making it hard to read, watch T.V., etc.; My thyroid tested okay, so I will go to a new op. doctor soon. I haven't found any cure for this yet.

Living in a rural area and then also having your doctor die must have been very challenging. I feel very lucky to have my eye specialist about 15 minutes away. Thanks for reaching out to me, Brown Eyed Girl and Sharon. I did see a new opthalmologist who, after I told him I had AMD and double vision, finally diagnosed that I have both! Now, I have an appt. next month to see a specialist in double vision, working with prisms. It will be helpful if something can be done. It will probably be expensive, I'm sure. But, would it work??? I guess I am a skeptic (or pessimist) right now.

 @deedeej I am glad you updated us on your progress. Good to hear you found a new ophthalmologist to confirm your diagnoses and refer you to someone that can help you with the double vision. A few years ago my mother started having problems falling. She was referred to a specialist that found her eyes were not tracking together. She saw a specialist like you are going to and they put prisms in her glasses. She was also given eye exercises to do to help train her eyes to focus properly. Due to her mild dementia Mom was not very compliant with the exercises. The prisms did help. I hope you are helped by .the specialist. Do keep us posted about how the prisms work out for you.
