   <p>Rick&#39;s, I&#39;m so sorry you&#39;re having such trouble, my heart goes out to you. I urge you to see a Retinal Specialist if you have not done so yet. With AMD you usually have your peripheral vision unaffected. It is the central vision that declines. I wish you well and please keep us posted on how you&#39;re doing.    <p>Rickmt, I feel for you. It must be a shock to be told you can&#39;t drive. I hope you&#39;ve been able to find out more about your eye condition by now so that you know what you&#39;re dealing with and how to move forward. I&#39;ve often thought that if this happened to me, I might try a ride-sharing company to get me to appointments and other visits. Neighbors are often willing to help with quick trips too.    <p>I had lost about 70% of vision in my left eye. I had area&#39;s that were blacked out. My doctors started me on monthly Lucentis injections and the blacked out areas slowly disappeared. The vision in that eye is still blurred but the wavy lines on the Amsler chart straightened out.</p>
