vision changing for worse.

I have dry eye macular for several years, seems my vision is getting worse. I have new eye prescription glasses but doesnt help. Does anyone else have t his problem?

  1. I'm sorry to hear your vision is worsening. I know from my family experience that new prescription glasses don't always help with macular degeneration. When lines become wiggly or letters slope or seem to disappear, reading glasses don't really help with those issues. Are you having regular appointments with your eye specialist to check your eyes? Those of us with dry macular degeneration need to check that it hasn't changed to wet. Also, a low vision center might be able to suggest other types of glasses that could help you. Is there one near you? It's never too early to go. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

    1. I, too, have had dry macular degeneration for years. I was diagnosed over 12 years ago. In a sense, I feel lucky that it has progressed slowly and have not yet advanced beyond the intermediate stage BUT I have noticed changes in my vision. I agree that new & stronger lens don’t help in most cases. I’m curious if you are seeing a retina specialist? I go every 6 months and am hopeful to hear him say I’m stable and learn about the many new trials for dry AMD that sound promising. If you’re not already seeing a Retina Specialist, now might be the time to start. They can address any issues that come up for you and answer your questions.
