Hopeful for a cure

I have had Macular degeneration for a long time. I can’t remember when I had my first injection. I am now 78 so I think it was at least 20 yeas ago. I did okay until about three years ago when my depth perception got so bad I had to give up driving.

I am blessed to have a daughter who takes me wherever I need to go. Losing one’s independence sucks but it’s not the worst thing in the world. I still hope they can find a cure.

  1. having the support of family is vitally important when we can no longer drive. I am hopeful for a cure. Whether it comes in time to help me or not, I hope the stem cell clinical trials produce a cure. I listened to a conference call with a doctor involved in this research. He said clinic trials should begin after the 1st of the year. Right now the only trial is in California. Do you have wet or dry macular degeneration? Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader

    1. I have both wet and dry.

      1. I understand all AMD starts as dry with some progressing to wet macular degeneration. A couple of community members having injections for both wet and dry. I hope your vision hold steady as we go into a new year. Sharon Moore patient leader
