Saffron is Saving My Eye

I live in Sydney and have been diagnosed with AMD 10 years ago.

Intraocular Lucentis has helped stop my wet AMD after a year of macular changes. For the last 8 years, by the advice of my specialist, I was taking saffron capsules (Nature Goodness brand).

I am quite positive to say that the saffron helps me to control my AMD better. The last injection I had was a few years ago. A few clinical trials around the world confirmed my experience with saffron.

 <inline-mention username="Sharon Moore" user-id="3129425"/> Hi, Nature's Goodness Macula Saffron 60 capsules contain 20mg saffron plus Lutein 10mg , Zeaxanthin 2mg, Vit B6 and Piperine (black pepper extract). Most studies are on 20mg saffron. Saffron carotenoids are main antioxidants. Piperine substantially increase thier antioxidant properties (they say 10x). I was and still does 1 capsule in the morning. Additionally I take fish oil and Resveratrol.

My doctor has me on Macuvision which includes lutein, zeaxanthin and zinc (plus more). If I take the Natures Goodness supplement, I'll be doubling up on these. Did you have this issue? I did not exclude ARED on pupose. Just decided to take saffron based on different research. I get my vit C and Zn from my diet of fruits, nuts and other foods. Saffron was unique so it was my prerogative.

For myself, I would like a saffron supplement without any other ingredients, to take in addition to my Macuvision Plus. They appear to only be available from the USA or Canada, not in Australia. I'm not overly keen on having them shipped, and maybe sitting in my hot lettbox for a few days. Wendy, Patient Leader.
