A Nervous Beginner!

I just found this site today and am in the early stages of dry MD. The only medical information my ophthalmologist gave me was to take those AREDS2 capsules which his practice sells.

My question is "the info on the bottle says take 4 a day, but my doctor said nothing about that amount."

I'm asking if that is necessary or can I get by with just one or two capsules a day?

I am open to any suggestions you may have for a "beginner."

Under the AREDS2 paragraph heading, you will see the names of the vitamins and minerals which were used in this study. <a href='https://maculardegeneration.net/areds-vs-areds2?' target='_blank'>https://maculardegeneration.net/areds-vs-areds2?</a> If a person is taking these supplements, and wants to conform with the recommendations of the study, this would be the total daily dosage you would take. I take these supplements, and need to take two a day to reach the same level as the study. If you check the label of the ones your doctor has recommended you will be able to see how many tablets you would need to reach the daily study level. Perhaps they have smaller amounts of the vitamins and minerals and one needs more per day. Anyway, you will be able to do the maths and then have more of an understanding. Hello....I just thought I would add that I have been taking Arends2 supplements for quite a few years. I take 2/day, one with breakfast and dinner. This was the recommendation of my retinal specialist, the head of the Dept of Ophthalmology at a university hospital. Sometimes I wonder...if I hadn't been taking these supplement, would my AMD have progressed more quickly? Of course, I'll never know the answer, but now, after 7 yrs with dry AMD, I can do many things that I did in the past. I had to give up jewelry making...too exacting...and I have lost a lot of depth perception. I don't drive at night, but now I don't have to pick up the grandkids after sports practices - but that's between you and me😀 On the positive side, I've taken up art and have fallen in love all over again😀 No matter what our status, it's important to find things that make us smile!
