Lessons My Macular Degeneration Taught Me

I'm blind in my right eye because of dry macular degeneration. Two years ago, I went completely blind in my left eye due to wet macular degeneration. For a whole year, I wasn't able to do anything for myself. I needed a lot of help from family and friends.

Learning to accept my condition

It was hard for me to accept this, and I started getting injections in my left eye. I forget the number of my eyesight, but it was pretty bad. I thought my life was over, and it was a very difficult year. Then, by the grace of God, he gave me a miracle and my eyesight returned to 20/40. With that vision I was able to gain my life back again. I was able to drive even though I had only one good eye.

What macular degeneration has taught me

I learned many, many lessons that year. I know God gave me a miracle, and I'm so grateful. I'm still getting injections in my left eye. So far so good. But I know how difficult and scary that not being able to see can be. May God help me through the process. I am forever grateful.
