Hi . My heart goes out to you. It can be a helpless feeling when your condition is progressing and you can't do anything to prevent it. I hope your prediction is wrong and that you maintain your vision for a long time to come, but, in case you're right, there are things you can do that might help. Here is a wonderful article about coping with the mental health issues that can come with vision loss: https://maculardegeneration.net/living/hope-coping-strategies. Here is an article about preparing yourself and your home for life with lower or no vision: https://maculardegeneration.net/caregiver/resources-visually-impaired. Sometimes, having a solid plan in place can help alleviate some of that fear.
Vision loss can be really scary and you need to give yourself time and space to process it, but do your best to move on quickly from a place of mourning. Many people live fully lives with lower or no vision. It can take commitment and a lot of adjustment, but it's possible. Please know we are here for you. You are not alone.
Warmest of wishes, Lori (Team Member)
