Wendy Toogood

Macular Degeneration Community Advocate Wendy ToogoodWendy earned her Bachelor of Education at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Her recent working life was spent as a TAFE (technical and further education) Head Teacher of Business in Sydney, NSW. What she enjoyed most in this role was retraining mature-aged students to improve their confidence and skills in order to re-enter the workforce.

Both Wendy’s mother and father have macular degeneration, and she has helped them with their journeys from the early to the late stages of this condition. Wendy was diagnosed a few years ago.

This family history of macular degeneration led Wendy to a volunteer position with Radio 2RPH (radio for the print handicapped) where she helps read and live-broadcast the Sydney newspapers for those who would like to keep up with the news but are unable to read because of vision problems or other physical issues.
