Linda Hoopes

Macular Degeneration Community Advocate Linda HoopesAfter a series of vision challenges over many years, including chronic uveitis and cataracts, Linda was diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in her mid-sixties. She was already very familiar with AMD considering her family history - her mother was legally blind from dry AMD and a cousin on her father’s side could no longer drive. Initially, Linda noticed few changes in her vision and was unconcerned. However, around 8 years post-diagnosis, the deterioration of her vision became much more apparent and worrisome. It was at this stage, Linda searched for support and information. She found a warm welcome and valuable information at the MacularDegeneration.net site. Today, as a Team Member, she is excited to contribute to supporting others facing similar vision challenges. For Linda, being an advocate for macular degeneration helped her find good in what can be a hard journey.
